Jada Pinkett Smith has spoken out about the infamous Oscars smack. Her husband, Will Smith, assaulted comedian Chris Rock on the Oscars stage in March, as has been widely documented.
"This is an extremely important Red Table Talk on alopecia," Jada said at the start of the latest edition of her Facebook Watch show Red Table Talk. Thousands have reached out to me with their tales in response to what I've been through with my health and what happened at the Oscars. I'm taking advantage of this opportunity to speak with our alopecia family about what it's like to live with this condition and to educate folks about what alopecia is."
"My deepest desire is that these two brilliant, talented guys get an opportunity to heal, speak things out, and reconcile," the actress said of the Oscars night. Given the current situation of the world, we require both of them, and we all require one another now more than ever. Until then, Will and I will keep doing what we've been doing for the past 28 years: figuring out this thing called life together. Thank you for taking the time to listen."
Will Smith publicly apologized to Rock and resigned from the Academy as a result of the event. Will was barred from attending any Academy activities, in person or online, for ten years after his resignation. "I accept and respect the Academy's judgment," the King Richard actor reportedly said after the Academy's penalty. Apart from addressing the slap at his comedy gigs after the occurrence, Rock has not formally addressed the Oscars slap and has stated that he will not do so until he is paid.
