According to police spokesperson Axel Valencia, a judge in Puerto Rico has issued a restraining order against musician Ricky Martin.Despite the fact that the star's residence in the northern seaside town of Dorado was where the order was signed, according to Valencia of the AP, the star could not be located. The "La Vida Loca" singer has not yet received the order, according to a Saturday report from TMZ.The person who requested the restraining order's identity is still unknown. El Vocero, a newspaper in Puerto Rico, reports that the order specifies that Martin and the other party dated for seven months before calling it quits two months ago. Martin refused to accept the breakup, according to the petitioner, who also claimed that Martin had yelled outside his home at least three times. El Vocero cited the order as saying, "The petitioner worries for his safety."Several Spanish media outlets, including Telemundo, covered the issue.
A request for comment from TheWrap was not immediately answered by Martin's representative.
Valencia stated that the order prevents Martin from getting in touch with the petitioner and that a judge would decide on July 21 whether the order should be upheld or overturned at a hearing.
It's interesting to note that the request was made directly to the court and not the police, so it was not examined by the prosecution. According to TMZ, the judge accepted the order based on the plaintiff's evidence, which "demonstrated that there is a substantial likelihood of immediate risk of abuse," according to the report. It doesn't seem like That Jwan Yosef, Martin's husband of five years, is the one making the restraining order request.
Rebecca Drucker, Martin's former manager, is also suing the singer for $3 million, claiming to be aware of a "career-ending allegation" against him. Drucker, who served as his manager from 2014 to 2018, according to court documents acquired by TMZ, was called back in May 2020 when his "personal and business life [were] in extreme disarray."
