Just two months after being detained for allegedly brandishing a gun at his wife, Marvin Gaye III is waving the white flag on his union by filing for divorce.
Marvin Gaye's son reportedly made a beeline for court on Wednesday to file for a divorce from his wife Wendy Gaye, according to new legal documents acquired by TMZ.
It's intriguing that Marvin III mentions January 12 as the date of separation because that's also the day of his arrest for domestic abuse.
The allegations that Marvin III physically beat his wife and cousin on January 12 following an argument inside their Calabasas home were first reported by TMZ.
Recall that Wendy then obtained a restraining order against her husband after alleging that he grabbed her by the neck and lifted her off the ground before her cousin stepped in. Marvin III then allegedly started physically assaulting both Wendy and her cousin. Wendy also claims that Marvin III threatened them with a gun.
A day later, MG3 turned himself in and was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence and felony assault with a lethal weapon. He was freed after posting a $50,000 bond.
In the documents, Marvin III cites the standard "irreconcilable differences" as the cause of the separation and asks the court to prevent Wendy from receiving spousal maintenance. There were no complications because they did not have any children.
It's important to note that Marvin III simply wrote TBD in the documents rather than specifying the date of marriage.
We contacted Wendy's team, but have not heard back as of yet.
