Casanova Pleads Guilty And Renounces His Loyalty To Gang Links

After pleading guilty to drug trafficking and RICO charges, Casanova is pleading with the judge for mercy before his sentencing and wants the court to know he is no longer affiliated with the group that got him into problems in the first place.

The troubled Roc Nation rapper lays it all out in a heartfelt letter to the judge in new court documents obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, in which he fully renounces his gang links to the Gorilla Stone Nation Bloods and vows to keep speaking out against gang life.

Casanova claims he's not disputing he's made some poor choices; after all, he did enter a plea to a drug trafficking charge. He claims he used the gang life to sell records and establish a reputation in the rap community.

The 36-year-old Brooklyn native also blamed his difficult upbringing and the absence of a father figure for his foray into crime, but he claims music gave him a constructive outlet.

Casanova claims that while the government presented his raps as primarily violent, that portrayal is not accurate of all of his work.

While incarcerated, he intends to speak out against gangs, and he claims to have acquired new friends who will help him achieve his goal.

Casanova also provided a large number of letters attesting to his character from friends, family, and coworkers. He is hoping the judge will take these letters into consideration while determining his sentence so he can complete it and return to his regular life and family.

According to reports, he might spend up to 60 years in prison. It will be interesting to see if the judge nodded in agreement after hearing him out.
