The actress Cameron Diaz has decided to abandon her retirement and return to her chosen field.
Jamie Foxx and the star of "Charlie's Angels" and "My Best Friend's Wedding" will be co-stars in the appropriately titled "Back in Action" Netflix comedy. The two performers have previously collaborated on two films: "Annie" from 2014 and "Any Given Sunday" from 1999.
According to Variety, the film will be directed by Seth Gordon, whose filmography in Hollywood includes "Horrible Bosses" and "Four Christmases."
Foxx tweeted a portion of a phone call between the two actors on Wednesday afternoon, confirming Diaz's hiring despite the lack of any information about the movie.
"Right now, I'm feeling so anxious. Diaz said, "I feel excited, but I don't know how to do this. I'm, like, pacing the room."
Foxx then introduced Diaz to NFL star Tom Brady, who had earlier this year proclaimed his retirement from the game before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 40 days later.
Brady joked to Diaz, "I was talking to Jamie, and he said you need a few ideas on how to un-retire. "I've had a fair amount of success unretiring."It is unknown if Brady will continue to be involved in "Back in Action." The movie's release has not yet been announced. In 2018, four years after her final screen appearance in "Annie," which received mixed reviews, Diaz announced her retirement from acting.
In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, she said of her "Sweetest Thing" co-stars Christina Applegate and Selma Blair, "I'm semi-retired, too, and I am genuinely retired, so I would love to see you ladies.
Raddix, a girl, was born to Diaz and her spouse Benji Madden in 2020. She acknowledged last year that she still adored performing but said that by deciding to leave Hollywood, she had been able to better organize her time as a new mother.
In a 2021 interview on his "Hart to Heart" podcast, she said, "I simply looked around and there were so many elements of my life that I wasn't touching and that I wasn't managing, and I couldn't really manage, because everything was so enormous." "I just wanted to make my life manageable for me, that's all. My daily schedule is simply limited to what I can accomplish on my own.
