In the past, Simon Cowell has talked about his wild behavior as a preteen, including being arrested for stealing a bus and starting to smoke and drink at the age of eight.

The former X Factor CEO will readily acknowledge that raising his eight-year-old son Eric has been lot simpler than raising him with his own parents.

Since Simon, 63, has stated exactly what he did as a child owing to having a "low boredom threshold" and not being academic, it would be difficult for young Eric to catch up to his dad's shenanigans.

"When I was Eric's age, I was terrible." I was a nightmare," the TV executive admitted.

"At eight, I began smoking and drinking, and once, I almost burned the house down."

Simon told The Sun On Sunday that he had uncovered the costume and set fire to Santa's beard in order to show his sibling that he didn't actually exist. But when he dropped it on the couch, the entire room caught fire.

Simon, who has three brothers, revealed that his eldest brother called the fire brigade when he smelled smoke.

The TV star continued to act erratically after that, stealing a bus with a pea pistol when he was just 12 years old.I assumed it wouldn't be taken seriously, but the driver dialed 911, and I was hauled into custody. My mother was upset when I returned home, Simon recalled.

But I was so bad, barely surviving, he continued.

Simon, who is engaged to Lauren Silverman and has a kid named Eric, also shared how his son saved his life.

The businessman had a work-related "obsession" before becoming a father in 2014 that eventually caused sadness. But having his first child made him slow down and prioritize family life.
