Harold Varner III claims his 92-foot eagle putt to win the tournament is the “No. 1” moment of his golf career.

It's been a steady climb up the golf ladder.

Varner was ranked 1,510th in the world in 2014, according to his own Instagram account.

Year after year, the American has steadily improved, climbing through the ranks.

But it required a magical event that he would never forget to break into the world's top 50.

Varner snatched victory from Bubba Watson at the Saudi International earlier this month with a massive 92-foot eagle putt from off the green.Varner celebrates after winning the Saudi International by hitting an eagle putt on the 18th hole.
Varner later told CNN that "everyone else felt it was going in," but he "wasn't sure."
Varner claimed he will "talk about it for the rest of my life" after that remarkable triumph, which pushed him to 45th in the world rankings.

Varner told CNN's Sean Coppack, "I can't believe it went in." "I knew I stood a chance, and that's what you're looking for.

"It's No. 1 right now," Varner said when asked where it stands in his professional career so far.

He also knew that his ranking among the world's top 50 golfers would open possibilities for him.

"I had a desire for (to be in the top 50). That's fantastic "In a press conference, he stated. "Man, that's the aim. That brings you into things I haven't tried yet. I've played in a few large events, but that's why we play.

"After Hilton Head, I was on the verge of it but didn't follow through, so I played a lot of golf. A. frickin' frickin' frickin' f When I was sitting out there, all I needed to know was that."Varner not only climbed the golf world rankings, but he also returned to Charlotte, North Carolina, with a $1 million prize.
Varner has been on a bit of a losing streak since his maiden professional victory at the Australian PGA Championship in 2016.
Varner won no professional golf tournaments between December 2016 and February 2022.

Throughout that time, though, his faith never faltered. He stated, "I've never doubted my skill."

"The only ones who doubt it are those who sit right here and say things like, 'Man, he needs to win.' But in here, I don't follow anyone's lead. Things happen when I do what I'm supposed to.

"Then there was life. My then-brother girlfriend's died a week later, and we were all celebrating. I wasn't ready to be a man about a lot of things. I could sit here and tell you that I didn't know what to do because, I don't know, it's a difficult situation to deal with. These distractions make it difficult to concentrate solely on golf.

"There's nothing better than golf when you're a child with nothing else to do. No, there isn't a single thing I would change about it. Isn't it cool? It hasn't occurred in a long time, and the way it did was frickin' great."
