ELON MUSK – WE’RE LIMITING TWEETS SEEN BY UNVERIFIED ACCOUNTS

This weekend, Twitter had widespread disruptions, and Elon Musk has now stated why he's implementing a new rule that restricts non-paying users to a daily tweet limit.

The Twitter executive solved a major issue Saturday that affected all Twitter users, particularly the inability to view new tweets, explore trends, or even refresh their main feed at all.

The identical message was being delivered to everyone… Rate Cap Reached.
Many people believed Twitter was having a server capacity issue of some sort — not the first time this has happened under EM's watch — or that it was simply a technical error. False on both points, as Elon himself reaffirmed.

The following temporary restrictions have been implemented, he wrote: "To address extreme levels of data scraping & system manipulation, we've applied the following limits: – Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts/day – Unverified accounts to 600 posts/day – New unverified accounts to 300/day."

Then, at the drop of a hat (again), he changed his mind and promised to slightly increase the count on all fronts, noting that people were reaching their rate limitations by reading all the tweets about the rate limits being surpassed. He then made a trollish remark in response to that.

According to him, unconfirmed users would soon receive 800 tweets daily, verified users 8,000, and new unverified users 400.

The bottom line is that he is imposing a strict limit on the number of tweets that users can view in a day, which is drawing a lot of criticism.

This seems to be just another attempt by EM and company to entice users to join up for Twitter Blue and pay a fee to be verified, something they have been doing unsuccessfully for months since launching the new service. Twitter Blue has a monthly fee of $8.

Naturally, this follows the revelation a few months ago that Twitter's value had been reduced by at least a third since Musk's acquisition.

He paid $44 billion for it, but it is now estimated to be worth between $8 and $15 billion. Elon has also been open about recent economic difficulties, such as finding new advertising and revenue streams.

He has now cornered his user base and is coercing their cooperation. As a result, many Twitter users are thinking of switching to another platform, and Twitter's "death" is also trending.
