Chance the Rapper believes that his drug-crazed days while creating that music would have eventually killed him, thus he is grateful that he cleaned up his act after his 2013 breakthrough album, "Acid Rap".
The sobering statement was made by the Chicago rapper as he celebrated the LP's 10-year anniversary with Complex.
Chance allegedly made enough money from his first headlining tour to rent a house unsupervised by his parents and then went drug-crazy.
Chance expressed his gratitude to a spiritual intervention for saving him from his substance addiction binge and stated that, had he perished, his legacy would have been reduced to that of an acid user.
His tale resembles Mac Miller's strangely, as Mac Miller passed away in 2018 from a heroin overdose in the Los Angeles home where he had been hiding out.
When "Acid Rap" celebrates its 10th anniversary on August 19 at Chicago's United Center, the genre is expected to perform on its largest stage yet.
Saba, a collaborator on "Acid Rap," will co-headline the event, which gives other hometown featured artists Vic Mensa, BJ The Chicago Kid, and Twista the opportunity to perform as well.
Chance has clearly mastered the art of detoxing his life for the better. He and his wife are fine after the incredibly popular video of a woman twerking on him in Jamaica, as first reported by TMZ Hip Hop.
