Just 10 months after being fired from CNN, Chris Cuomo returned to primetime television on Monday night with the premiere of his new NewsNation show.To begin, Cuomo cited The Tempest by Shakespeare, adding, "The past is prologue."

Meaning that all that has gone before has brought us to this point, and the same is true of my presence with you tonight. I think so," he remarked, adding that since being fired, he has "learned lessons—both good and bad."

Cuomo was fired from CNN after it emerged that he supported his brother, the former governor of New York Andrew Cuomo, during a sexual harassment investigation.

He utilized his connections in the media to discover about stories that were going to be written about his brother's wrongdoing, according to an inquiry by the New York Attorney General's office.

Cuomo was sacked by CNN for transgressing the network's journalistic standards. Cuomo later filed a lawsuit against the network, alleging wrongful termination.

In 2020, his Cuomo Primetime on CNN averaged 2 million viewers each night, making it the network's most watched program. In contrast, NewsNation, a more recent network, only attracted roughly 46,000 viewers in 2018.NewsNation, which is owned by Nexstar Media, claims to be "America's source for unbiased news," a point that Cuomo emphasized throughout his premiere.

He stated, "It's evident to me that we need people in my position to do more, to not merely play or even referee the game that is afflicting our politics and society." That entails exposing the game, demonstrating when and how it is played, as well as being more open about my position on the topics we discuss.

Cuomo praised the network for "believing in the work" he's done with his podcast, the Chris Cuomo Project, in the weeks leading up to the premiere of his new show on NewsNation.

Cuomo previously stated, "I look forward to developing something exceptional here — covering news wherever it happens and having conversations that pander to common issues and solutions instead of political parties or the political circus."

According to exclusive information from OutKick, NewsNation President Michael Corn reportedly spearheaded the push to hire Cuomo despite his existing legal disputes with his old employer.

Corn was hired by NewsNation but had previously worked for ABC's Good Morning America, when two former female colleagues accused him of sexual assault and encouraging a poisonous workplace.

Earlier this year, more than a year after he was recruited by NewsNation, that lawsuit was dismissed.
