After announcing his retirement from Juventus, Giorgio Chiellini’s MLS pretenders

He's a seasoned defender. Giorgio Chiellini's long career at Juventus will come to an end, and he will reportedly no longer play in Italy, while his soccer career will continue. His new destination, according to the Italian Gazzetta dello Sport, would be the Major League Soccer in the United States.

MLS teams have gradually improved their marketing image as well as their on-field quality by bringing in world-class players. The United States is not only an appealing location in terms of economics and the quality of life it provides to visitors, but it also has a strong soccer market.

As a result, Giorgio Chiellini, who is almost 38 years old, is not unique in considering the idea of playing out the rest of his professional career. Which MLS teams might be most interested in signing Chiello if his Juventus contract expires at the end of the 2021-2022 season?

MLS's potential destinations for Chiellini

Giorgio Chiellini has been accustomed to playing at the highest level of soccer for nearly his entire career, and it is undeniable that he possesses a competitive DNA that will not be extinguished. So whichever team he chooses to continue playing soccer with must at the very least provide him with the opportunity to compete for titles.

Chiellini is also accustomed to collecting a pay commensurate with his status as one of the top defenders in the world, having played for more than a decade. It is simply assumed that his annual salary as a Juventus player was at least $5 million (according to Salary Sport).

So, if any MLS team wants to sign him, they must be willing to pay his salary as a Designated Player. As a result, there would be three MLS teams capable of exceeding Giorgio Chiellini's expectations and allowing him to continue his brilliant soccer career in the United States.

Los Angeles Football Club

Aside from the allure of a place like Los Angeles, Steve Cherundolo's team only has one Designated Player, which is none other than its star player, Mexican Carlos Vela, thus a good pay for the Italian defender would not be an issue. They presently dominate the Western Conference in terms of sports, so that would not be an issue.

Miami Inter

Another city with a high demand for residents and a world-class endorser: David Beckham. The former Manchester United idol can persuade the Italian defender to join his squad as a third Designated Player, joining Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi, Giorgio's former Juventus teammates, to aim for the top of the MLS, despite their current Eastern Conference standings.

Red Bulls of New York

Gerhard Struber's team might offer Chiellini the role of key Designated Player, as they currently lack one. Furthermore, with no other well-known players on the squad, the Italian would be the team's star player. In terms of sports, they are currently in a good position, sitting third in the Eastern Conference, and when you mix in the allure of a city like New York, the offer might be extremely appealing.
