The incident took place at the Borgata Hotel, Casino and Spa, according to a statement from the Atlantic City Police Department on Wednesday afternoon.

They said that Sonya Deville was assisting security when police officers arrived on the scene. They claimed that after further questioning, the WWE superstar acknowledged owning the handgun and gave them a permit for it, even though it was ineligible for use in New Jersey.

According to police, she was taken into custody without a hitch.
WWE actress Sonya Deville was detained for gun possession in New Jersey last month after police allegedly discovered an unlicensed handgun in her car.

The event allegedly took place in Atlantic City on February 19; according to our sources, a valet noticed the firearm in her glove box and alerted the police. Deville, real name Daria Berenato, was taken into custody by police shortly after they arrived on the scene.

According to court documents, she has since been charged with one count of unauthorized weapon possession — handgun without permit. According to sources close to the wrestler, Deville acquired the firearm for personal defense following an alleged attempt on her life by a 24-year-old guy during a scary home invasion in Florida back in 2020.

The gun is reportedly registered in Florida but not in New Jersey.

According to court records, the 29-year-old is scheduled to appear in court this month for a hearing on the subject.
