Soccer Superstar, LIONEL MESSI, Threatened By Gunmen

Two guys opened fire on a grocery store owned by Lionel Messi's in-laws in Argentina, firing at least a dozen shots before threatening the soccer legend, saying, "Messi, we're waiting for you."

The parents of Lionel's wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, run the Unico store, which is situated in Rosario, Argentina, roughly 200 miles from the nation's capital, Buenos Aires. A typical day of grocery shopping was disrupted on Thursday when two attackers arrived on a motorcycle in front of the store in broad daylight, one of whom got off, and opened fire, according to witnesses.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt, although there was some property damage, including a broken front window pane.

Perhaps the scariest moment was when the men left a printed message threatening the 35-year-old World Cup champion after unloading on the store.

We're waiting for you, Messi. Javkin won't look after you because he is a drug dealer as well.

Javkin is Pablo Javkin, the mayor of Rosario.

Mayor Javkin visited the location shortly after the violent incident and condemned Argentina's national police for failing to control drug-related crimes.

Despite the statement appearing frightening, local police officers who also talked say it was probably an effort to "draw attention" rather than a threat.

In Rosario, specifically, there has been a sharp increase in drug-related homicides. Narco violence has been on the rise in Argentina. In reality, the Buenos Aires Tribune reported last year that the "city's narco violence had reached 'critical' proportions."
