On the day of Ukraine's independence, U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson paid a surprized visit to Kyiv.

It has been 31 years since the nation proclaimed its independence from the Soviet Union.

Also, six months have passed since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The British prime minister tweeted, "What happens in Ukraine matters to us all," along with a photo of himself and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"I am in Kiev today for that reason. Because of this, the UK will keep supporting our Ukrainian neighbors.

I think Ukraine will prevail in this conflict.
