Former Vice President Mike Pence rebuked Republican assaults on the FBI following the search of former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate.Republicans have reacted angrily to the FBI searching Trump's Florida property on August 8 as part of a probe into how he handled secret information while president.

Pence stated on Wednesday at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire, "I…want to remind my fellow Republicans we can hold the attorney general accountable for the choice that he made without assaulting the rank-and-file law enforcement people at the FBI."

"The Republican Party is the party that upholds the rule of law. At the federal, state, and local levels, the men and women who serve on the thin blue line have the support of our party. And these assaults on the FBI ought to end, he added.

Since the search, there has been an increase in concerns of violence against law enforcement personnel as federal authorities warn that it sparked extremists across the nation. An internal intelligence memo that was widely distributed to law enforcement officials of various levels across the nation stated that "the FBI and DHS [Department of Homeland Security] have observed an increase in violent threats posted on social media against federal officials and facilities, including a threat to place a so-called dirty bomb in front of FBI Headquarters and issuing general calls for "civil war" and "armed rebellion."An armed guy who used an AR-15-style weapon and a nail gun to attack an FBI office in Cincinnati last week was murdered.

According to authorities, a guy shot himself in the head after driving into a barricade near the US Capitol in Washington, DC, on Sunday. After his car caught fire, he fired multiple shots into the air.

"Those to cut FBI funding are just as incorrect as calls to cut police funding. The fact of the issue is that we need to figure out what happened. We must wait for the facts to emerge, added Pence, who, like with Trump, is thinking about running for president in 2024.

He went on to announce that he will ask Attorney General Merrick Garland to make the complete justifications for the current search known, noting that "this extraordinary move does need unprecedented transparency."

The former vice president added that he has not ruled out appearing before the select committee on January 6 that is now looking into Trump's attempts to invalidate and void the results of the 2020 election.

"If there was a chance to participate, I would think about it…

I would have to consider the particular position that I was holding as vice-president…
The vice president being called to testify on Capitol Hill would be unique in history. However, as I already stated, I never wish to prejudge any official invitation extended to us.
