(AP) – Judy Woodruff has announced that she will leave the nightly "NewsHour" show on PBS at the end of the year.

Woodruff, 75, said she will continue to report longer pieces for "NewsHour" and conduct other projects and specials for public television until the presidential election in 2024.

She was a rotating anchor on "NewsHour" from 2009 to 2013, when she and Gwen Ifill were named co-anchors. Woodruff has served as the show's sole anchor since Ifill's death in 2016.

In a note to coworkers, Woodruff wrote, "I adore working at the PBS 'NewsHour' and can't picture life without it." She worked at CNN and NBC News before becoming the chief Washington correspondent for "NewsHour" in 1983.

A PBS representative said Saturday that plans for her replacement will be revealed in the fall.
