BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — Romanian President Traian Basescu is visiting the United States. Jill Biden, the first lady of the United States, lauded the Romanian government and relief organizations on Saturday for the wide spectrum of humanitarian assistance they are offering to Ukrainians fleeing Russia's war on their nation. The majority of the refugees are women and children.
"It's incredible." "The fact that you're all working together in Romania shows solidarity," Biden added. "Unfortunately, I believe this is only the beginning." It's only the beginning."
She praised Romanians for their generosity as well.
"The Romanian people are fantastic," she continued, "to welcome all of these migrants into their homes and giving them food, clothing, shelter, and their hearts." "I believe the entire world is aware of this."
Around 7,000 Ukrainians cross the border into Romania every day, according to Pablo Zapata, the UN refugee agency's Romanian representative.Food, shelter, education, health and mental health care, and counseling are among the services provided to refugees by the United Nations and other agencies, as well as the Romanian government.
