President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine stated on Sunday that he is willing to engage with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but warned that if talks fail, the two countries' conflict might escalate into "a third World War."
"I'm prepared to talk to him about a deal." For the past two years, I'd been prepared. In an exclusive interview with CNN's Fareed Zakaria on Sunday morning, Zelensky said, "I believe we cannot stop this war without negotiations."
"I believe that if we have a 1% chance of ending this war, we should take it." That is something we must accomplish. "In any event, we're losing people on a daily basis, innocent people on the ground," he remarked."Russian military have arrived to slaughter and kill us," he continued. And we may show our people's and army's dignity by striking back with a heavy punch. However, our dignity will not save the lives of those who are still alive. So, in order to have a chance of dealing with Putin, I believe we need to use any forum, any opportunity. However, if these efforts fail, a third World War will erupt."
