As of this Saturday, Canada will no longer require COVID entrance, making it simpler for travelers to enter the nation.

According to a news release from the Public Health Agency of Canada on Monday, travelers will no longer need to provide proof of immunization, submit to testing before or after arrival, or adhere to quarantine guidelines. Among other changes, Canada will no longer require tourists to utilize ArriveCAN to submit information including proof of immunization and travel details.During the caucus meeting on Parliament Hill on Wednesday, the issue of relaxing COVID regulations was raised. Government authorities will "ensure that when we open up the economy, we do so in a logical and polite way," tourism minister Randy Boissonnault promised the media.

Canada reduced entrance regulations earlier this year, however visitors who are completely immunized must still use the ArriveCAN system (or face a $5,000 fine) and do not need to provide a negative pre-departure COVID test result.

People who weren't deemed to be fully immunized were only permitted to enter Canada for specific types of trips and were required to undergo a 14-day quarantine and show a negative test before and after arrival. What are the updated requirements to enter Canada?
There will be no longer be any requirements for vaccination, testing, or quarantine, and visitors won't have to keep an eye out for or report any COVID symptoms once they arrive.

According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, Transport Canada is also removing additional regulations. Travelers will no longer need to submit to health inspections in order to board planes or trains, nor will they be required to wear masks while doing so. However, they are still strongly advised to wear "high quality and well-fitted masks" throughout their trip.

Pre-embarkation testing, immunization, and ArriveCAN requirements for cruise guests will also be eliminated, however some rules will still be followed, according to the agency, in order to align with U.S. standards.

The organization claimed that a number of factors, including modeling that shows Canada has largely passed the peak of the Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 fuelled wave, Canada's high vaccination rates, lower hospitalization and death rates, as well as the availability and use of vaccine boosters (including new bivalent formulation), rapid tests, and treatments for COVID-19, were factors that "facilitated" the changes. The CDC issues a travel advisory for Canada.
Currently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that Canada has a "high" COVID-19 level and advises travelers to be current on their vaccinations before traveling there.

According to Johns Hopkins University & Medicine, Canada experienced 223 new fatalities and 18,718 new COVID cases over the preceding week.
