Camila Cabello, a singer and actress, shared her body image issues on Instagram.

The Cuban-American actress, who just appeared in a production of "Cinderella," talked about the challenges of being in the spotlight.

"I've worn bikinis that were too small and paid no attention to how I appeared, only to be upset when I saw photographs online and comments," she wrote in an Instagram letter on Saturday. She said she felt "very vulnerable and unprepared" since she was continually photographed by paparazzi and had her body inspected.Cabello said the emotional letter was inspired by a day at a Miami beach party where she felt pressured to look her best since she knew photographers were photographing her. She explained, "I tried to act like they weren't there, but I couldn't."
"I knew I looked 'nice' in the photos and assumed I'd feel successful," she added, "but I've never had a worse day on the beach."Cabello explained, "I felt the emptiness and despair of our culture's thoughts, which became my thoughts." She also chastised a "society that has grown accustomed to an idea of what a 'healthy' woman's body should look like that is absolutely unattainable for many women."As of Sunday morning, the note had gotten nearly 900,000 likes.
The three-time Grammy nominee isn't afraid to be vulnerable on social media. She made a TikTok video last year in which she encouraged women to love their bodies as they are.
"Being at war with your body is so last season," she remarked in the video, which has more than 5 million views. "We're genuine women, with curves, cellulite, stretch marks, and obesity," says the group.

Her battles with body image, however, have remained, as she described on Instagram. "In my own thoughts, the messages from our world are loud."

"Ironically, all of the therapy, all of the inner work is to try to get back to feeling like a 7-year-old me on the beach," Cabello said at the end of the Instagram post. "Today is a sad day for me because I'm missing her. Free to be happy, silly, breathe, and act like a mermaid."
