According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian army has destroyed over 1,000 Russian tanks, nearly 200 Russian planes, and nearly 2,500 armored battle vehicles so far.

Despite these setbacks, Russian troops still have the capability to undertake additional attacks, according to Zelensky.

"The occupiers, of course, still have equipment on hand. Yes, they still have missiles capable of striking our country "Added he. "However, this battle has already weakened Russia to the point that they will have to plan even less military equipment for the Moscow parade."

On May 9, Russia will perform its annual Victory Day parade in Red Square, honoring the German capitulation to the Soviet Union during WWII.

Since the assault began, Russia has lost almost 23,000 soldiers, according to the Ukrainian President. This claim cannot be independently verified by CNN.

Russia has issued low casualty estimates on a periodic basis, which analysts believe to be a significant underestimation. Two top NATO military officials assessed the number of Russian servicemen killed in action in Ukraine to be between 7,000 and 15,000 two days previous to Russia's update. Other US officials estimated Russian losses in the range of 7,000 to 14,000 men killed around the same time, but they expressed "poor confidence" in those estimates.

In an interview with Sky News earlier this month, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia has suffered "substantial" army losses in Ukraine, calling the losses "a terrible tragedy" for the country.
