On Saturday night, Elton gave his final "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" performance in Stockholm, capping it off with the tour's anthem. At more than 330 live events, he acknowledged the support of his audience.
"My fans have been there every step of the way," Elton stated afterward. They have remained loyal to me, shown patience with me, supported me, and continued to attend every single event.

"Tonight has been magical," he continued. I'm trying to take it all in, and I don't think it will really hit me for a while that I'm done touring. I can't even begin to express how much I will miss the supporters and how much their encouragement has made me feel humble; it will be with me always.

One interesting thing that occurred during the concert was that a live view of Colplay, who were playing in Sweden at the same time, appeared, and Chris Martin addressed both his and Elton's crowds by saying, "Elton, from all of us here, from all the bands and artists you've helped and inspired, we love you so much."
Elton announced his retirement from touring to make more time for his family. The prospect of a residency is thus left open, but who knows?
