Just Sam, American Idol Winner Goes Back To Singing In NYC SUBWAYS

Samantha "Just Sam" Diaz, a former "American Idol" champion, claims to be singing for money in the subways of New York City.

Sam claims that she has returned to performing in subway stations just three years after winning "Idol" in 2020. She says she lives off the cash and coins that people give in her contribution box.

Just Sam is using social media to capture her full circle moment. She posts videos on her Instagram profile of her performing various songs around NYC subway stops.

Sam claims in a since-deleted post that she was ashamed to resume her subway singing after winning the renowned reality singing competition.

Sam reportedly deleted the caption that read, "Back in 2021, I was really embarrassed to be going back to the trains," according to The Sun. I didn't want folks to realize that I actually required the cash. It wasn't optional, and I didn't want others to know that. After winning Idol, I was disappointed in myself for allowing myself to sink so low, but I had to remind myself to be patient with myself and to keep in mind that I joined Idol when I was 20 years old.
Sam won "Idol" amid the height of the epidemic, during a distant midseason shift in the 2020 season during which candidates sang in their isolated homes. She won the 18th season of the program over second-place finisher Arthur Gunn.
