"Obsession," the newest smash Netflix series, has a sex scene with just a man and a pillow that has many on edge and making them reconsider their next check-in.
William, a character played by Richard Armitage, had an affair with Charlie Murphy, who plays his son's fiancée. At one point in the miniseries, William searches anxiously for any traces of her that might have been left behind in her hotel room.
He eventually locates a pillow on the bed where she slept and detects her aroma, which prompts him to engage in a full-fledged sex act in which he literally attacks the cushion. The guy approaches it, sniffs it, bites it, and humps it like a dog, as if it were the real thing.
That's where Netflix viewers appear to have drawn the line in terms of the kinkiness; several expressed their distaste on Twitter and joked that they would never view another hotel pillow in the same way. That's undoubtedly a sound rule, but "Obsession" raises the bar considerably.
Naturally, a lot of people are making fun of their gross-out reactions by posting amusing memes or GIFs. Some even seemed to think it was quite warm! I guess it depends on the individual.
Here's the strange part: Armitage, the actor, admits that this sequence was mostly improvised, which simply goes to show how talented he is as a performer given how engrossed he appeared to be on camera.
He explains that they originally intended to conduct a lipstick stunt, but decided that the pillow would be more shocking and realistic given how much of a sex addict the character is.
