Beyoncé recently changed some lyrics that some people considered offensive, so Monica Lewinsky is hoping that the singer will also modify the words to a 2013 song that makes reference to the former White House intern.
Beyoncé revealed on Monday that a term that is an ableist slur would be removed from a song on her upcoming album, "Renaissance."The lyrics "Spazzin' on that ass, spazz on that ass" were formerly part of Drake's co-written song "Heated," but a spokesman for the artist announced that "the term, not used purposefully in a damaging way, will be removed."
Lewinsky said on Monday that she believes Beyoncé will take into account her own repeated request for a revision to the song's lyrics, "Partition," from 2013.
In the song, Beyoncé makes allusion to Monica Lewinsky's relationship with then-President Bill Clinton in the 1990s by singing, "He popped all my buttons, and he ripped my blouse/ He Monica Lewinsky-ed all on my gown."
Since Clinton is the one who is infamous for urinating on her dress, Lewinsky has contended for the past eight years that the lyrics should read "Bill Clinton'd all on my gown."
Lewinsky hasn't been successful in getting Beyoncé to alter the "Partition" lyrics thus far, but her tweets this week indicate that she isn't giving up.Lewinsky admitted to a curious Twitter user that she never spoke to Beyoncé about the phrase, but that she did bring it up in a 2014 Vanity Fair story she wrote about the incident.According to Billboard, Beyoncé's team has not yet responded to Lewinsky's request.
