The outcome, presented in six parts, is a thoughtful, illuminating documentary of lives that have been lived to the fullest.
"It's an honor to get to share Joanne and Paul's remarkable life and love story with audiences this summer," Hawke, 51, said in the press release. Hawke promised to present a "unique and exclusive look at the lives of both actors and a complex 50-year connection that finally led to the making of the film" in a statement received by Deadline back in September 2020.When they were both working on the Broadway love drama Picnic in 1953, Woodward and Newman became friends. Elinor, Melissa, and Claire were reared by the couple in Westport, Connecticut, where they established their lives outside of Hollywood. Scott, a boy who passed away in 1978, and Susan and Stephanie, two daughters, were among Newman's three children with Witte.
Newman and Woodward were renowned for striking a balance between their job, family, political activity, and charitable endeavors. They also founded Newman's Own, the well-known salad dressing, with all proceeds going to charity.
