Rihanna graced the cover of Vogue magazine's May issue ahead of their baby's arrival, where she recounted Rocky breaking out of the "friend zone," the moment she and the rapper "became my family," and how she found out she was pregnant.
""People don't readily get out of the friend zone with me," she remarked in the April 12 cover article. "It took me a bit to get over how well I knew him and how well he knew me, because we both know how much danger we can get ourselves into."
During the 2020 quarantine lockdowns, Rihanna said the rapper "become my family." The two musicians sold many of their possessions to go on a road trip from Los Angeles to New York.

Although speculations about Rihanna and Rocky dating date back to 2013, when the rapper opened for Rihanna on her Diamonds World Tour, the two have been fairly silent about their relationship. In 2019, she stated that she was dating Hassan Jameel, however she later accompanied Rocky to the 2021 Met Gala.

In a GQ interview last summer, the rapper called her "the one," saying that being in a relationship has made his life "so much better."
