Will Smith stepped onto the stage and smacked Chris Rock at this year's Oscars, and Chris Rock joked that he had his "hearing back."

The remark was apparently uttered by the US comic during his Ego Death World Tour stand-up concert in Indio, California, on Friday.

The comedian is also said to have informed the audience that he would keep quiet about the incident until he was reimbursed.

According to the publication The Desert Sun, Chris responded, "I'm OK, I have an entire show and I'm not talking about it till I get paid."

"Life is good," he added, jokingly. My hearing was returned to me."

Chris has so far refused to go into detail about the incident, claiming that he's still processing what happened and indicating that he would address it in a future comedy set.

He reportedly told fans during a Boston gig in late March, days after the event, that "I don't have a bunch of shit to say about that."

"Before this weekend, I'd written a complete show." I'm still processing what happened, so I'll get to it eventually. It's going to be a major event. It'll be amusing, but I'm going to tell some jokes right now."

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Friday that Smith will no longer be allowed to attend the Oscars for the next ten years.Smith will be barred from "all Academy events or programs, in person or virtually" for a 10-year term beginning on April 8, according to academy president David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson in a statement.

Smith, who was just minutes later awarded Best Actor for his part in King Richard, has subsequently apologized for his actions. He also resigned from the Academy, stating that he was willing to "face any additional sanctions" that the organization considered necessary.

In a statement, Smith stated, "The list of persons I have injured is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my personal friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences."
