On Sunday, the Russian military stated that on Saturday night and Sunday morning, it launched a series of hypersonic and cruise missile strikes against military targets in Ukraine.

Russian Ministry of Defense spokesman Igor Konashenkov claimed in a statement released on Sunday that sea-launched Kalibr cruise missiles and air-launched Kinzhal hypersonic missile systems were fired from the airspace over Crimea.

The missiles, according to Konashenkov, were fired at a big storage site for Ukrainian armed forces' fuels and lubricants near the Kostyantynivka community in Ukraine's Mykolaiv area. According to Konashenkov, the site served as a major supply and refueling base for Ukraine's armored forces.

Separately, Konashenkov said that Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the Black Sea were fired at a Ukrainian armored vehicle maintenance workshop.

According to Konashenkov, air-launched precision missiles were fired at a Ukrainian armed forces training site in the hamlet of Ovruch in the northern Zhytomyr area of Ukraine. In that statement, the Russian military claimed that hundreds of Ukrainian special forces and "foreign mercenaries" — a euphemism for international volunteers headed to Ukraine — were slain. None of the assertions could be independently verified by CNN.
