Following the discovery of his mother Pashun Jeffery, 20, deceased in her residence in St. Petersburg, Florida, Taylen Mosley was reported missing on Thursday.
Police reported that she had suffered multiple stab wounds on Friday.
According to police chief Anthony Holloway, the father of the kid, Thomas Mosley, has been charged with two charges of first-degree murder.
According to the police head, the youngster was discovered close to Dell Holmes Park, which is adjacent to Lake Maggiore and around nine kilometres from his mother's residence.
The alligator was killed by a detective's gunshot.
At a news conference, Mr. Holloway stated, "We didn't want to find him this way, but at least we can bring some closure to that family today.
On Wednesday, family members saw Jeffery and her child, and on Thursday, when they couldn't get in touch with her, they requested the apartment manager to check, according to the police.
Federal and state law enforcement organizations, dogs, and a drone were used in the hunt for the kid.
The medical examiner will determine the boy's cause of death.
