After remaining silent for months, Brett Favre finally spoke up. While the Hall of Famer just briefly mentioned the Mississippi welfare controversy, he discussed politics and blatantly stated that President Trump was better for the country.
Favre spoke with Jason Whitlock for a considerable amount of time on the TV host's "Fearless" podcast on Tuesday. "I think Donald was a non-political president, and I liked that about him," Favre said. Was he flawless?
Without a doubt. Am I ideal? Without a doubt. I have flaws like everyone else does. We all have flaws. But I genuinely believed that he had our nation in a better position and genuinely cared about the people living there.
"You name it," the former Packers quarterback said, "black, white, Hispanic, Asian." "I believe that if you were an American citizen, he was most concerned with you. I'm not sure if our current president shares that mindset.
It's no secret that the NFL icon backs the number 45, something Brett revealed Jason has really damaged his wallet.
Favre acknowledged that it had cost him money.
The former Green Bay signal-caller also discussed transgender individuals, one of the most divisive topics in the nation and a subject Favre feels strongly about.
Whitlock stated, "I think it's inappropriate for us to think that a young male who identifies as a girl can go into a girl's bathroom and use the restroom with girls, and for us to think that's OK. Please hear me out. I apologize.
He continued by concurring with Whitlock's viewpoint that transgender women shouldn't be permitted to compete in sporting competitions against biological females.
As for his alleged role in the Mississippi welfare scandal — where he's been accused of working with government officials to obtain $5 million from welfare funds to build a volleyball facility at Southern Miss. — Favre said he couldn't speak much about it due to a gag order.
He did say, though, he's looking forward to openly speaking about it all soon.
"I relish the day that I can talk about it," he said.
