President of the United States, Joe Biden: "If there is anything inevitable in the future, it is the will of the people of the globe for freedom and for peace," he remarked on this day in 1974 when the United States and 11 other countries joined together to form the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. In a statement, Biden stated. "With Finland joining NATO today, that will is greater than ever."

Also, he stated that he "looked forward" to "as quickly as possible" welcome Sweden to NATO.

In a tweet, the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, thanked Sauli Niinistö, the president of Finland. "In the face of Russian aggression, NATO emerged as the only reliable security guarantee in the region. We anticipate the #NATOSummit in Vilnius will move Ukraine toward our Euro-Atlantic objective," he continued.

Jens Stoltenberg, secretary general of NATO: The leader of the US-led military alliance claimed that during his invasion of Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin had "failed" in his attempt to "slam NATO's door shut." "President Putin desired to shut NATO's door.

Now, we demonstrate to the world that he failed and that intimidation and force are ineffective. Our door is firmly open, and instead of lessening NATO, he has succeeded in increasing it," Stoltenberg said at a news conference in Brussels alongside Niinistö.

Finland now has the “strongest friends and allies in the world,” Stoltenberg declared as he welcomed the country into the alliance.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak: “Finland, welcome to NATO,” he tweeted.
