According to authorities, a 24-year-old male was detained by police in connection with the loss of two emperor tamarin monkeys from the Dallas Zoo.

Davion Irvin was located on Thursday inside the Dallas Aquarium close to animal displays after tips from the public helped locate him, according to a statement from Dallas police spokesperson Kristin Lowman.

Irvin boarded a Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) train as authorities approached him before being apprehended close to the 1400 block of Pacific Avenue, according to the police.

On Monday, the emperor tamarin monkeys at the Dallas Zoo were discovered missing from their habitats.

Bella and Finn, two monkeys, were discovered in a vacant home's closet in the adjacent Lancaster on Tuesday. Bella and Finn were located thanks to suggestions from the public, according to the police. Officials reported that the animals were unharmed.

Their disappearance was the most recent of several mysterious occurrences at the zoo. Authorities had stated that they thought the animals had been kidnapped after discovering an intentional cut in their habitat. According to Lowman, Irvin has been accused of six counts of cruelty to non-livestock animals in the tamarin monkey case.
