In light of rumors that Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a multi-million pound contract, KFC has made fun of his probable job at Al-Nassr.
The Portuguese superstar's contract with Manchester United was cancelled, thus he is currently free and searching for a new team. After the player's dramatic tell-all interview with Piers Morgan rendered a return to Old Trafford unlikely, the Red Devils and the player mutually decided to split ways.
Now that Al-Nassr is prepared to pay him €200 million per year should he sign a two and a half year contract, Saudi Arabia may be his next stop. He would join up with Cameroon great Vincent Aboubakar in the Middle East, and KFC has joked that Ronaldo would take a backseat.
"Decent back up to Aboubakar tbf," they tweeted. At the World Cup, Aboubakar has shown his talent, and his two goals, including the game-winning one against Brazil, are more than Ronaldo has scored so far in Qatar.
Aboubakar went to Saudi Arabia in June of last year after having previously been productive at Porto and Besiktas. He was dismissed in stoppage time as he celebrated his goal against the Brazilians. Al-roster Nassr's includes former Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina as well.
Ronaldo was rumored to be leaving Manchester in the summer, but despite a brilliant career, the 37-year-old didn't have many options. The forward would have demanded enormous pay, and clubs like Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Napoli were mentioned as potential buyers, but none showed interest.
The forward's priority, according to Morgan, who still has a close personal relationship with Ronaldo, is to stay in the Champions League as he tries to maintain his lead in the all-time goal scoring lists with Lionel Messi 11 goals behind him.
He believes that if he does well at this World Cup, his true desires would be fulfilled, according to Morgan. "Which club furthers his record and his legacy by competing in the Champions League. At this point in his career, it is not about the money. What drives people to play football at the greatest level, set records, and take home trophies?"
However, Odion Ighalo, a former United forward who now competes in Saudi Arabia, anticipates that Ronaldo would seek out a European team. I believe Cristiano Ronaldo will want to play for a Champions League team and have a successful career finale because of his high level of ambition, but you never know," he said, according to The Athletic. "He needs to make a choice. I wish him well with his choice, and I hope he decides to visit Saudi Arabia. He would improve the league and attract more fans, thus I would adore for him to visit Saudi Arabia."
