In the US state of Ohio, where a Black man was killed by police, protesters are calling for justice. According to a lawyer for Jayland Walker's family, the 25-year-old was shot while facing the opposite direction from the officers during the incident on June 27 in the city of Akron.

The mayor of Akron and the city's police chief are scheduled to provide an update on the incident on Sunday. The officers involved in Walker's killing have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.Authorities intend to make the incident's body camera footage public.

According to attorney Bobby DiCello, who spoke to the Akron Beacon Journal, it is thought that the police shot at Walker up to 90 times, inflicting "60 to 80 wounds," although he pointed out that a single bullet might result in several wounds.
Walker did not shoot at the officers, according to the attorney, who claimed to have gone over the body camera footage of the killing before it was to be made public.
Authorities claim that Walker escaped a traffic stop that occurred early in the morning and that witnesses saw him firing a gun from his car before he was fatally shot in a nearby parking lot.DiCello told the newspaper, "He is barely in a down sprint when he is dropped by I suppose the count is above 90 shots. According to our current study, it appears that 60 to 80 wounds were sustained by those who made it to shore.According to a police statement made public following the event, the suspect's conduct led the officers to believe they were in danger from him.

Small demonstrations over the death began on Wednesday in Akron, and many compared it to several high-profile police shootings of Black individuals in the US in recent years.
Following the police shooting of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2020, the nation's rage reached a fever pitch. Three officers were found guilty of violating Floyd's civil rights, and one officer has now been found guilty of murder in connection with that incident.

Jayland was a kind young kid who never caused any trouble, Walker's aunt Lajuana Walker-Dawkins said in a press conference on Friday.Jazzimine Beasley, the sister of Walker's fiancée who perished in a vehicle accident last month, demanded responsibility during a demonstration on Saturday.

She acknowledged to the Beacon Journal, "This was my brother." "My goal is to obtain justice. I'm simply so furious.

The pastor of the Second Baptist Church in Akron, Rodderick Pounds Sr., claimed to have seen body camera footage of the shooting before it was made public and that it did not show Walker posing a threat to the officers.
Local elected authorities have demanded that the slaying be the subject of a federal probe.
He described the video as "chilling" and the murder as a "massacre."
