There are still a lot of untold Princess Diana stories. Former personal assistant and butler Paul Burrell recounts a few in the Smithsonian Channel documentary Princess Diana's "Wicked" Stepmother. While the documentary focuses primarily on Diana's troubled relationship with her stepmother, Raine Legge, it also includes information about Diana's marriage to Prince Charles. Diana, as we now know, was under a great deal of stress throughout her marriage, which is not unlike to what Meghan Markle went through during her time as a senior royal.

Paul remembers how things were back then. He added, "I could see the gaps in Charles and Diana's marriage growing bigger and wider." He also revealed that Prince Harry's birth night was one of her most difficult times.

"Diana told me she sobbed herself to sleep the night Harry was born. 'I knew my marriage was done,' she admitted "He thought back on something.

"The prince then informed the princess that his mission had been completed. He'd given the country an heir and a spare, and now he could return to Mrs. Parker Bowles."

The events that followed only added to the royal wedding's stress. The press was given access to private conversations between Charles and Camilla, as well as Diana and a new love interest. After that, Diana's father died at the end of the year.
Paul finds connections between Diana's experience and Harry and Meghan's as senior royals. He feels they would have gotten her full support in dealing with the situation as it is now.
