Former President Donald Trump slammed Dr. Deborah Birx, a physician, public health expert, and former member of the coronavirus task force, in a post to Truth Social on Monday, saying she "lost all credibility" when she advised people not to travel as the pandemic spread but went to see family anyway."What she did was so heinous and awful," Trump added. "So cool! What was their opinion of her? I told her she was fired because she wore few clothes, wore a lot of scarves, and lacked 'class.'"Trump is pointing to a news article from 2020, in which Birx defied her own task force's directives by visiting her family for Thanksgiving while Americans were being told to stay at home owing to rising virus levels. Trump is also likely enraged by Birx's new book, "Silent Invasion: The Untold Story of the Trump Administration, Covid-19, and Preventing the Next Pandemic Before It's Too Late," in which she tells her side of the story about her tenure in the White House. However, former Trump adviser Alyssa Farah claims that Trump is lying about Birx's departure from the White House.
"He's a petty, insignificant individual. He didn't terminate Dr. Birx, according to the facts "Farah took to Twitter to express her feelings.
Birx planned to retire after assisting the upcoming Biden administration with its transition to the White House, it was widely reported at the time.
Birx said she was "caught aback" by Trump's suggestion to inject oneself with disinfectant at one point during his presidency.
"In that moment, I was really taken aback," Birx admitted. "Obviously, at the conclusion of that, I said, not a therapy, contacted the CDC, FDA, and got them to publish that, and made sure the senior advisers knew they needed to go to the president and tell him that this, as you said, was insane."
