hough Prince William always knew he'd be king one day, but he probably didn't realize he'd have to shoulder so much of his family's burdens before assuming the throne. First, his brother, Prince Harry, and his wife, Meghan Markle, abruptly left their royal duties and relocated to Santa Barbara. Despite what Harry told Oprah, William had to step up and do his best to make the family appear as a peaceful and united unit.
Will became the de facto face of a more modern royal family once Harry was removed from the picture. He's also made many highly known press tours, including a contentious Caribbean tour with his wife, Kate Middleton, in addition to addressing questions about his separation with Harry.
If William was hoping for a break, he'll be disappointed. As the queen's health worsens, she has had to cancel a number of official events. As a result, she's leaning more heavily on William than ever before, and entrusting him with some significant tasks.Queen Elizabeth has begun delegating some of her most critical royal duties to her grandson, Prince William, as he approaches the throne. While William has gone on numerous royal tours and has always attended Christmas services, he was only recently given permission to represent the queen in matters of royal diplomacy.Following the death of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in May,

Queen Elizabeth requested that William pay a visit to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and express her condolences on her behalf. According to Express, William traveled to Abu Dhabi to meet with the late Sheikh's half-brother, the new president. This is the kind of royal obligation Queen Elizabeth has traditionally kept for herself or her heir, Prince Charles. On Twitter, Rebecca English, royal editor of the Daily Mail, called it "a major step up for William." He'd never been given such a significant duty before.
Though William made a significant move, all eyes are on the queen, whose rapidly declining health has been the focus of debate for months. She has been seen less and less in public since catching COVID-19 early this year. The queen's health is still a problem, according to a royal source who told the Daily Mail on May 16 that she has "good and bad days." Though she appeared to be in excellent spirits at a May appearance at a Platinum Jubilee celebration, it appears like we'll be hearing a lot more from William in the future.
