Nancy Pelosi described the Supreme Court judges nominated by Donald Trump as "dangerous" and "anti-freedom."
She believes that their efforts to repeal Roe v. Wade endangers other rights.
Pelosi told CNN, "We have to fight the fight now on this issue."
When it came to abortion rights, Democrats were prepared. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated on Sunday that the "anti-freedom" judges Trump and GOP leaders appointed to the Supreme Court lied to them.
"It is not a long-term strategy. A long game was played. "Roe v. Wade was decided a long time ago," Pelosi said on CNN's "State of the Union." "When asked about the decades-long battle to overturn the landmark 1973 court decision, host Dana Bash expressed her dissatisfaction with the outcome.The issue, according to Pelosi, was trusting that the conservative judges appointed to the Supreme Court by then-President Donald Trump — Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett — would follow the law rather than try to rewrite history."This is a court that is dangerous to our country's families and freedom," Pelosi stated. She also believes that the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion in the forthcoming abortion rights case Dobbs vs. Jackson Women's Health Organization may erode marriage equality and other existing rights.
On May 11, Senate Democrats fell far short of the 60 votes needed to overturn the filibuster rules and enshrine Roe v. Wade's abortion rights. In September, the Women's Health Protection Act was passed by the House of Representatives.
Pelosi, who is campaigning for anti-abortion Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar, said she wants to see the abortion issue resolved before the midterm elections this fall.
"On this topic, we need to fight immediately," she stated. "That is why people have to mobilize," she said if it continues into November.
