Britney Spears and her partner, Sam Asghari, have announced that they are expecting a child.
Spears revealed on her verified Instagram account on Monday that she had dropped weight in preparation for her recent Maui holiday, only to gain it all back.
Asghari told her she was "food pregnant," according to her writing.
"So I took a pregnancy test… and uhhhhhhh well… I'm having a baby," Spears wrote.
Spears' spokesperson has been contacted for comment by CNN.
Spears and Asghari, who married in September 2021, have expressed a wish to start a family.During court testimony last year, Spears said that she wanted to have a baby but that her court-ordered conservators forbade her from doing so since she was on birth control.
She teased fans with the announcement of a "new addition to the family" in December before revealing Sawyer, her Australian Shepherd puppy.
The singer announced on Monday that she "won't be going out as much" in order to avoid paparazzi obtaining images of her pregnant body, which they then sell for profit.
With her ex-husband Kevin Federline, she has two teenage sons, Sean and Jayden.
